Very excited it's football Sunday, and my beloved Indianapolis Colts are in the AFC championship(I'll be buying my AFC championship tshirt on Thursday in Indy(it's cheaper to get it when I go home to visit my family than to order it online and get delivered in Ohio).
Money saving challege-
Cut coupons, went through all the ads to determine if there is anything we need from Wags, CVS, or RiteAid. I can't find anything. I do have a mail in rebate for either Advil so I need to find the best price for a bottle and what the due dates are.
Breakfast I had lots of blueberries, so I grabbed some flour, plain yogurt, and a few other pantry staples. Threw the blueberries into my food processer to chop them down a bit and made some yummy Blueberry muffins for breakfast.
Lunch-We had garlic mashed potatoes, homemade fluffy rolls, and some yummy beef baby back ribs I slow cooked all morning about 4 hours at 200 degrees F. We're having people over so I made the ribs as a nice snack for the boys. I'm also baking some vanilla cupcakes from scratch (throwing in some cherry pie filling for an extra surprise treat), chocolate chip cookies, and making Pioneer Woman's Apple Dumplings with Mt. Dew-I've tweaked the recipe a bit because I didn't have fresh apples-I used apple pie filling, and I didn't have crescent rolls so I threw together some pie crust dough from scratch. Kickoff is at 3 so I expect our guests here in the next 20 to 30 minutes. I've gotten the cookies and the cupcakes done so far and they are yummy-the apple turnovers are still baking but it smells so good. DH looked at me like I was a little crazy when he sees me throwing cherry pie filling into the vanilla cupcakes I've been mixing.....but the can was going to expire next weekend. I'm going to be out of town in Indy and have no need for a cherry pie. DH has gobbled 3 so far, I think he's happy I have modified some of my recipes. To appease him though I did whip up my great grandma's vanilla icing from scratch that he loves (he can always tell if I haven't had time and just use store bought icing-it's a texture thing). I've got to keep him away from those darn cupcakes long enough to ice them.
I'll be meal planning tonight so I'll be posting the meals we'll be making for the next week.
