DH spoils me....he really does. I'm such a lucky girl. We don't do gifts for holidays like Valentines as I said before DH is a just because gifter and once he gets an idea or a gift he doesn't like to wait so I got a few presents-despite the fact that it was Valentine's day.
Since my money transformation a few years ago I don't really buy for myself unless it's a need. Maybe in the October timeframe my electric blanket died-I love this thing. I had it for about 6 yrs it was a gift, but wasn't working that great anymore. At the time I didn't want to replace it because well it costs about $150 to replace it. I couldn't justify to myself spending that kind of money at the time. And well I forgot about it. Well the past few weeks have been so cold I've had sweats, plus 3 blankets in the evenings and still cold. DH seemed to notice and went out and surprised me with a clearance electric blanket from Bed Bath and Beyond, and he used a 20% off coupon. He got it for 1/8th the normal price. I was so pleased. That wasn't even the biggest surprise-he won a raffle at work and got a best buy gift card-he bought me a new ipod(mine is 1st generation and died) and a small cute little netbook computer. It's perfect for recipes, blogging, couponing, and everything else I need to run our household. He even got them to price match it down $50. My money saving habits have worn off on him. I just feel grateful to have such a thoughtful guy. I'm sure he could have spent that free gift card on video games, movies, or something else he wanted but he thought of me first. I'm so lucky to have such a nice guy in my life. :) I'm letting him pick the weekly menu this week and I'm making him banana bread tonight in my bread maker. I also decided since it's so cold out he needs a hot breakfast this week(he cleans off the car and starts them both every morning). So I made him eggs and biscuits(he turns them into sandwiches) with grapes for breakfast today. Tomorrow blueberry muffins and oatmeal.

I love to brag on my husband, but yours has mine beat hands down in the gift giving area! I have to tell him what I want, which is cool with me because It is what I want.
ReplyDeleteAwww how sweet. You really are a lucky woman :D
ReplyDeleteI'm actually afraid of electric blankets. I purchased down alternative comforters at meijer (in the off season) for $20 each, a few years ago. I like being snug as a bug & these work great. We are toasty under that comforter, even though our heat is set at 66 at night.
Cheap-it's great to hear you have a good hubby too. I think the netbook gift was very thoughtful, DH is in IT and likes to redo some of our home computers-I think it's partly so I can have something of my own to use when he's doing that. I can access my rebates, recipes etc. :) He keeps notes in his cell phone when I mention things throughout the year (yrs ago he got me something I didn't want and I was upset about the wasted money, I can't remember the item now but I remember the cost....:( ) He's very thoughtful-I'm very lucky.
ReplyDeletePubbler-I am too afraid to use electric blankets when we sleep-this one is for when I'm in the living room reading or watching TV winter evenings. I unplug it when not in use. We keep our house 66-68 but I'm a freeze baby. I found a flannel cover for our big fall/spring comforter it buttons right in. And we use flannel sheets so with those 2 the bed is never cold. :) Great deal on those comforters at Meijers
DH is liking this hot breakfast made for him this week-he says it sure beats poptarts he usually eats. LOL.
How thoughtful! I need to check out BBB because we need a new electric blanket. Hubby told me to go buy one and I asked him "Are you crazy? Until they go on clearance I would have to pay $100 for one" Wishing I would rub off on my hubby like you have on yours! :P
ReplyDeleteI've been keeping my eyes peeled for them to go on sale. thanks for the heads up. We also dont sleep with it on. I cant stand to climb into a freezing cold bed though. So I turn it on while I'm doing my nightly bedtime routine, then the bed is warmed up and I turn it off right before crawling in.
We also were gifted a set of flannel sheets this year. LOVE THEM! I've never had them before. I'm going to try to catch them on clearance too so I have an extra set.
