Money Saving Challenge-CVS trip

Well today was an ok day. I went to CVS to get the free cfl halogen lightbulb (free after $1 coupon and $2 ECB, makes it a $0.01 profit). I got 4 newspapers. I was in for a rude awakening not only did my local paper up the cost in stores by $0.50 starting the new year, but they also don't work with redplum anymore so we didn't get any redplum inserts. GRRRR. At least my home delivery 1 newspaper price didn't go up. :) That's good news. I got 2 prescriptions and got $50 CVS giftcard for it, used that and ECBs to pay for my papers and light bulb. So it was $0 out of my budget-that's exciting for me because there is still $47 left on it.

The roads weren't great so I didn't venture to the grocery store, Walgreens, or RiteAid as I planned. I will go tomorrow at lunch hopefully. I did watch some football & movies, cut my coupons, ran on the treadmill, took stock/made list of the cleaning supplies to watch for on sale, and set up some auto payments for the new year.

Pretty good day. I also started using the spreadsheet I got off the coupon project for tracking my receipts/savings/ I did end up editing it to add # items purchased. I also just realized my goal is for us to only spend $1,500 for the year on household items, food items, and prescriptions. It's funny to think before I changed my financial mindset and started shopping smarter I spent about that every 2 months. My how things have changed in a few short years.
